Guide To The Mood Board Of My Opening Film

Image
Hi Mediastudiers, in this post, I'll be creating a mood board for my opening project. My project is based on a stalker thriller flick. Dark pictures are projected on the mood board below to give the impression that my film will be tense. MY MOOD BOARD Overview My mood board is meant to convey a dark, ominous vibe, which ties in with my kidnapping and stalking theme. My film will be heavily influenced by a dark mood, a monologue given by the stalker/kidnapper, because the genre of my opening sequence will be primarily a thriller. The mood board is meant to convey a dark and strange feeling in order to convey what the character will go through throughout the film, as well as a sense of how the character might feel in that situation.   Characters The main characters are the girl being stalked and the stalker. She is practically the main focus of the stalker and the movie revolves around her. She would be the ...

Guide To Planning for the Final Project

Image
Hey Mediastudiers, in this blogpost, I will be describe what my final project will entail.  After thinking long and hard, I decided to choose a thriller/supernatural drama for my film opening assignment. Yes, thriller is one of my favorite genres so I saw it fit to take inspiration ideas from the tv shows I mostly watch such as The Vampire Diaries, The Arrow, The Originals, and The Shannara Chronicles. As I said in my last blog post, my inspiration would come from the movies The Perfect Guy and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The following is a basic synopsis of what my project will look like.    The girl goes for night runs daily. She gets ready and goes for her regular mile run. She lives in a gated community but stalked by a guy in a black car. Of course, at first, she has suspicions. There is also a monologue given by the stalker throughout the entire opening scene.  I am very excited for the project but I'm not sure how well it's gonna workout for me. I f...

Guide to Choosing a Genre

Image
Hi media-studiers. It's me again. In this post, I will determine the genre I want to represent in my opening film. I have two genres in mind. A thriller/horror film or an adventure film. I like the idea of a thriller/horror film because it seems that it would be fun to create and the adventure film would also be fun to create but the adventure film seems a bit harder to execute given the length of the opening film and the resources I have access to. The best option for me at this moment would be to film my opening scene in the thriller/horror genre. I would like to use ideas from the following movies as inspiration; I Know What You Did Last Summer  Directed by Jim Gillespie where four teenage friends are reunited after a catastrophic catastrophe when they are chased by a hook-wielding psychopath in their little beach town. The Perfect Guy Directed by David Rosenthal entails a successful woman who becomes acquainted with a man who appears almost too good to be true aft...

Guide to Movie Opener Brainstorming & Research

Hi mediastudiers.  It's me again. This week we will be watching videos on past film openings created by other students. #1. Rise This film took place on a soccer field. The guy puts his headphones on a walk to the soccer field with his equipment ready for soccer practice.  The main character seems to be extremely in tune with his craft, executing each goal into the net. The different camera angles capture the player's skills and performance. Energetic music plays along with the sequence, simulating the upbeat melody the character plays through his headphones. I appreciate the connection made with this technique, allowing the audience to be thrust into the main character's world, experiencing the almost tranquil yet heightening feeling he welcomes during this soccer practice.  #2. Dear-Lover Dear Lover uses a voice-over to create a dramatic tone that furthers the narrative of a story about battling for love. The film clearly sought to convey a narrative of reflection...

Guide to Introductions

Meet the Group Hi, as your may already know, my name is Rohalia and my group for this project will consist of myself. For this blog, we were tasked with writing a post about our group members we chose to work our film opening. For this project, I will be working by myself. The decision to work by myself is my own because I feel it is most effective for me and my schedule. I also don't have to depend on anyone or be depended on to complete the work during a certain time period meaning I can work on my own time and get the work done by the due date of course! Working by myself gives me the freedom to direct the film opening to how I have planned.  The downside of working by myself is the workload. The work would be extra for me as I am not working which other group members but I am confident that I will work more efficiently with myself. I should also add that I plan to be assisted in my opening film by family and/or friends but the work but I will not be working with any of my class...
